Autumn emerging

Image
It is an hour until noon. We are at the park. The wind is blowing, the skies are grey. The Canadian geese are calling out as they fly overhead. A few aged sunscorched leaves are fluttering down and sporadic raindrops find us in the breeze. The pans of the scale are shifting again with the heat of summer now beginning to balance out the chill of the dark season ahead. Autumn blessings.

Random Post : If one day my collection of fav books is dug up by a future civilization

<random post> I was thinking about some of my favourite inspirational books and quotes. The first book that changed my life (other than embarking on the Darktower Series of course) was The Road Less Travelled. Scott Peck. About the same time was Celestine Prophecy. James Redfield. I admit I have not made it through the Tenth Insight. I will one day. Time passed and then it was A New Earth. From there, something in me was awoken and in a round-a-bout way it led me to the writings found at Nag Hammadi. I spent about a year diving into Gnostic texts, as well as those considered 'Gnostic related' - in fact I am still browsing about and pouring over those periodically. Finding The Gospel of Thomas warmed my heart to no end. Cynthia Bourgeault's Wisdom Way of Knowing was very lovely, and one of my favourites, closely followed or tied with Living Buddah, Living Christ by Thich Nhat Hanh. I also LOVED Mitch Albom's Have a Little Faith. The MOST inspiration

Spiritual but Not Religious? Please Stop Boring Me.

http://www.ucc.org/feed-your-spirit/daily-devotional/spiritual-but-not-religious.html Take a few moments to read this post, written by a Minister within the UCC. Her name is Lillian Daniel.  I came across this article, posted on facebook. I read it, and at first it did not irritate me fully, I more or less dismissed it as being smug and snarky, but not a big deal. Then, as conversation over it grew, and I read it again, I realized that actually, it pissed me off. One of my favourite quotes from it: Next thing you know, he's telling me that he finds God in the sunsets. These people always find God in the sunsets. And in walks on the beach. Sometimes I think these people never leave the beach or the mountains, what with all the communing with God they do on hilltops, hiking trails and . . . did I mention the beach at sunset yet? Another quote, even more sweet is: Thank you for sharing, spiritual but not religious sunset person. You are now comfortably in the norm for self-ce
